Yearly Traditions

Chinese New Year traditions. Just got to love them.

This is me performing my Divine Wind Ritual before the annual tongue lashing I would get for dying my hair. Thanks boss for letting me be myself and allowing all the fancy colours. I'm about midway through the colours of the rainbow. Should be able to complete the series by this year...

I know I'm a horrible son. Always making my mom angry and I'm even more horrible when I write this. I secretly enjoy watching her fume at me while I give that pokerface/nonchalant look/smirk. Never fails to amuse me.

On day one, we'll be going through the usual house visits to the same relatives/acquaintances. I dread the afternoon one where its just shouting. They shout new year greetings, shout conversations and shout for you to enjoy the new year goodies. Then the cousins and I get to rot away while they continue shouting at one another. No idea what they shout about because sadly I don't understand cantonese.

Nothing beats the questions I will be getting. I think I should start a "几时到你?" 101. I think I'm getting pretty good at handling this. I believe I can come out with some fancy answers. Maybe I should think of implementing props into my answers next year. Somehow I suspect there's a conspiracy to get me off the 'Distribution List'.

As long as the Bakwah keeps coming, I should be able to survive. Ang Baos with blue notes would do well to alleviate the suffering of the questions too.

Happy New Year to me. May I not have to slave like 阿马 this year.
